(My Wife & Myself in September 2006)

I have been interested in radio's and scanners since I was 15. My cousin Charles KG6PH got me interested in CB back in the 70's, and I made a lot of friends that way. I grew up in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx in New York City and the CB airwaves were booming back then. I always wanted to get my Amateur Radio license but never had the urge to learn the code. I was married in 1984 and my wife Terry and I used the CB to communicate around New York. In 1988 we moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and after the FCC created the No Code Tech I took and passed the tests and got my ticket back in 1991. I have been having fun ever since. My Original Call was N0OOX, but in February of 1998 I obtained my present vanity call.

After moving to North Branch, MN in 1995 I put up the K0DMF Repeater here at my QTH. It went on the air in October of 1997 and in 2002 with the addition of DSL in the area I linked the Repeater to
EchoLink. EchoLink uses Voice over IP technology to make it possible to link Amateur stations together thru the internet. I mainly used it to talk to my Brother in Law and friend Tony KC2FZG who resides in New Jersey. I now have both IRLP node 8193 and EchoLink Node 23958 established on the K0DMF Repeater using EchoIRLP. Maybe now I will build an AllStar node!!

I am still working on getting my wife Terry to get her license, but with Cell Phones and shared plans (Yes we are IN!) it's getting to be a hard sell.

Since the dropping of the Morse Code requirement 2/23/07, on 4/21/2007 I took the test and became a General Class Operator.

In March 2008 I became the Trustee of the 145.330 PL 146.2 (Formerly N0ABR, now K0ECM) Repeater in Rush City, MN. Gary N0ABR became a Silent Key on January 15th, 2008. It is sponsored by the East Central Minnesota Amateur Radio Club (ECMARC). After lots of time, work, and donations from other local Hams, I have the Repeater back to full operation. I am also in the process of linking my 443.875 to the 145.330. It has been taking a while, but I am getting there. I also started taking care of the ECMARC Website. Just some more stuff to keep me busy and out of trouble.

Check out the links to the left to find out more info on the K0DMF Repeater, ECMARC Club Repeater & My Weather Station.
